Orman says that there are a number of reasons why people should get out of credit card debt, including the prospect of increased rates over the next few months. "I firmly believe that in 2009 everyone needs to make it a priority to get out of credit card debt," she writes. "Credit card companies are raising rates, slashing credit lines, and even canceling cards; the best way to insulate yourself from penalties is to have no balance." In Orman's world, getting out of debt and increasing credit scores is the key to everything in life - including dating. On a recent episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, Orman gave her dating advice to anyone considering getting into a relationship with someone with a poor credit score.
